Went out to one of the local resivors wit my nephew yesterday figuring we wouldent catch anything due to we couldent take the canoe and were forced to fish the bank. The water was crystal clear temp in the high 30s if I had to guess.

I had chalked it up as a no luck day so I decided to figure out what smithwicks floated, sank, suspended. there was no room to cast to many trees so i grab my BPS extreme spinning combo feeling iffy about the line. So im making short flick casts maybe 10ft and testing my smithwicks. I tie on this ugly purple and yellow one and call my nephew over to show him how ugly this lure is flick it out and as were discusing the lure in the water this 30" class pike come out of nowhere and nails the thing.

So were flipping out im going "ike" lol screaming my head off and freaking cuz my line is pretty much junk due to being last seasons line. So im fighting this thing get it up to the bank my nephew goes to grab it and SNAP bye bye fishy with a new smithwick rouge lip ring.

I think I covered every curse in the book I was so mad. My nephew said it can count because it was the first of the year when normaly we say it has to be hands on.

So we leave that spot and go to a 3 acre pond we nicknamed "wal-mart pond" I tie on a big 3/4oz jig and Paca craw trailer start working the bottom slow. I start telling Ryan that theres nothing but grass on the bottom it feels mushy and he goes your getting a hit I had 4 good thumps and just stood there went brain dead forgeting what a bight feels like. So there was my first LMB missed cuz I was sleeping on the job.
