Ice Out Tips

New to this site and looking forward to being a member here. Great site with a lot of content!

Anyone have any tips on catching Bass right after ice out? I usually fish a carolina rigged 6 plastic worm and do pretty well.

Thanks

good question Reelwise.  I was wondering the same.  heck I was gonna try the Carolina rig this sping with plastics. Sorry I'm no help.  i'm mostly a texas rig fan.  The ice is breakin up so not much longer.

I tend to fish some of the same stuff I fish the rest of the year I might just scale down some and work them slower.

First nice days after ice out I'll be fishing a shad colored Smithwick Suspending Rogue, especially in the northern parts of the small lakes I fish (it gets the most sunlight exposure). Look for shallow water near creek channels, with dark colored bottom being the best to soak up the suns rays. May only get 1 or 2 bites all day, but they can be BIG bites!

Be very slow and deliberate with presentation. Cast, reel down a bit, STOP and wait for 1 to 2 min, twitch, repeat, etc, etc.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the replys in such a short time. I'm open to try new stuff. I'm hoping for the ice to be gone from the lakes and ponds real soon since its not even safe for fishing around my area anymore. I dont mind the ice though :)

It sure doesn't seem like the ice has been bothering you much! Nice bass through the ice. Nice pics.......I'm envious!

Me and ice have a little agreement, I don't bother it so it don't bother me!
