yeah they make a digital one I think it cost me like 14 bucks it has air temp and water temp on it an the time.

14 bucks?  I'ma check dick's and see if they got one...

I know I got a thermo for meat in the oven, maybe that'd work?   ;D

vexilar makes a depth and thermometer for bank fisherman, it is seven dollars and it can attach to your line ot you can just set it in the water for 20 seconds and it gives you a good reading.

I use a so-called "stream thermometer" which works out very well. They are usually found in stores or catalogs in with fly fishing stuff and are in the vicinity of $10.

I have one of those Vexilar units and it did not work well either for temperature or depth.
