funny story

Featured Replies

i walked through  the woods to a pond about an hour before dark with 1 buzzbait today. about my 3rd cast i missed a good bass. about my 6th cast i clipped a limb behind me and my only buzzbait went into the water. the bass were biting and my only lure was at the bottom of this muddy pond! this pond was pretty bad, deep mud, an inch of rotten limbs on the bottom, alot of moss. i had rubber boots on and i waded out to where the water was about a half inch from the top of my boots and started feeling on the bottom. i sifted through for a good while, then got a stick and started raking for another 10 minutes or so. i finally got my rod and raked for about another 10 minutes. i was just about to give up when i snagged it. but by that time there was mud everywhere. i casted for about 20 minutes without a bite.

lesson learned today? never go fishing with just 1 lure!  :)

See, you should have asked that on the site before you went out.   Been there, done that.   Enjoyed the story...now I know there are other clowns like me out there.

PS...that stuff on the bottom of the pond stinks like hell, eh???

it stinks like a pig pen! :o

come to think of it i've done it quite a bit. last year i caught a channel cat on a crank bait and i couldn't get the trebble hooks out of that tough loose skin. i had to cancel that trip to get pliers.

that's the bad part of fishing off the bank. nothing is worse than being able to see your bait and having to break it off and just stare at it.

the only lures i've lost to brush this year in a boat are plastic worm rigs that weren't worth the troule of plowing into cover to get them.

Mr. George Perry went fishing with only one lure and landed one for the ages. he talks about it in a thread just down the page. he too was worried about losing the lure.  Look for the thread "Releasing a record bass" on p. 2.

I haven't fished with one lure in forever, and doubt I ever will again.

I traveled about 2 hours to a little lake that only allows electric motors so I took my two man bass boat. Got to the lake, put the boat in, got my rods, and my ..................... :otackle box :o..................... whoops left it at home in the garage. Not wanting to waste a trip, a trolled around trees looking for something I could use, found a spinnerbait and a crankbait that were hung up and made a okay day out of it. Actually boated a few so it wasn't all that bad of a trip.
