Bass dont eat thier own kind...Huh?

Featured Replies

I went out yesterday and was near a guy who was having some trouble catching fish. I was tying on a Baby Bass colored Kinami Flash(same as Senko),and I was telling him how I was tearin the fish up with this color. He came back at me saying

"Thats ridiculous,Bass dont eat thier own kind".

Well I responded with :

"Why are there so many crankbaits patterned after baby bass?"

I proceeded to throw my Bait and had 5 "Dinks" within about 25 minutes. The bait is 5 inches and these fish couldnt be more than 8 or 9 inches long.

See ,I guess I showed him .........huh!!

Were the bass hitting the paint job or the lure? Would they have hit another crankbait that was 4" and painted orange?

My most productive lure the past couple weeks ........... a baby bass patteren cankbait.

Baby Bass pattern is just another fish pattern.  Greenish on top and white on the bottom.  It just looks like a fish.

Bass will eat bass fry until there is no tommorrow.  I was at Barkley a few weeks ago and they were eating their own fry with reckless abandon.

I was fishing in a pond beside my house and you might not beleave me but i caught a little dink and was reeling it in and then i had a moster bass come up and  eat the bass and i let it have some line for about a min. and then set the hook and he ended up going in to a tree that had fell in to the water and cut me off so i think that a bass will eat a bass.

Right now anything that looks like a bass pattern is a good lure to throw. Right after a bass comes off the bed and guarding fry guess what their feed bag is on and baby bass is just one of many things on their plate.

Was fishing the local lake for a tourny and the bass were nailing the fry. You'd see the fry start to "boil" on the surface and then a bass would explode out of the water. We flipped into those spots and got fish every time

I caught about a 3 pounder the other day that had the tail of a small bass sticking out of it's throat. Too bad it wasn't a tourney fish...

Bass are very aggressive fish.  If they'll eat ducklings (saw this one, no kidding), they'll eat anything in my opinion.  A friend of mine caught a 10lber out of a private lake with a small snake sticking 1/2 the way out of its mouth, so like I said, they'll eat anything!
