Pitching is my favorite technique to use and ive practiced it in the backyard a ton and have gotten quite well at it and ive gotten quite acurate. my only problem is when i pitch a tube or somthing out as soon as it hits the water it will fall away from the cover because i have the line to tight so i can detect strikes. when i pull line off the reel to try and help this it seems that the line is almost to slack and i may be missing strikes. is there somthing else that i can do to try and get better at this.

This is what I do when I pitch a jig or tube. I pitch it to a spot and stip off about 3 ft of line maybe more if I am fishing deep. My jig or tube falls on slack line and falls straight. I then lift my rod tip up to feel if they grabbed it on the fall. If they didn't then I work the lure and leave a simi slack line then raise the rod to check for a strike. Most of my strikes they do not hit it and spit it very often. You have more time to detect a strike than you think. If you give them a second sometimes your will catch the fish that first grab the trailer then the jig. With a tube sometimes the grab the skirt then the rest of the bait. By giving the bass that extra second you will hook those fish that otherwise would be a lost fish. What I mean by second is the strike happeneds you count one thousand one one thousand two set the hook. When the fish are inactive they might grab a hold of the bait then while they swim off they inhail the rest of the bait. This helps in that situation.

I agree with Chris you should first worry about a straight fall so you can get the bite. Also you can watch the slack line so if they bite it on the way down the line will twitch.
