Mustad Slow Death hook?

Featured Replies

Just watched Al Linder and he was fishing a Mustad Slow Death hook. It looks like you'd have to use a swivel as the hook causes the bait to roll.

Have any of you used this hook? What are your thoughts about it?

Last season, the show "The Next Bite" was advertising them, and they said you definately need a swivel to avoid line twist. It's a goofy looking hook, but the results with live crawlers were pretty good for walleye.

"Re-inventing the wheel"  The rotating hook that has been around for years and was started when the Tru-Turn hooks were introduced. Several companies have/had their version too. Any of those hooks with the bait rigged completely on the shank will do the same. The "new" hook just does not have the offset shank as the predessors have.

Glad someone else noticed this as well.  We have been using the "old" hooks for years here for Walleyes with a bottom bouncher, swivel and leader.   Just another gimick to get you to spend more money.
