It was all fun but:

The Rockbass were like weeds.  Every darn cast (14 or so) I caught one.  I did not have to worry about snags in the rocks because they were litterally unsnagging me.  That is how agressive they were.  The bass followed my twister tale but the rockbass alway beat them to it.

What should I have done about this switch locations, lures, or just sit back and count the fish?

Welcome to the forum. Three options come to mind, in no particular order.

• Switch to an ultralight and enjoy the rockies.
  

• Move to another location if you think you can find a place that has bass but not rockies.
  

• Switch to a really large lure hoping to discourage the rockies, but they will take lures much larger than they should. But it's worth a try.

I agree with Marty. Living plants expel oxygen making them great places for bass to wait in ambush but dying weeds do the opposite and expel co2. Long before the levels of co2 outweight the oxygen, the bass take off. General rule is when close to 1/2 the weedgrowth is dead, move on.  Plus you'll be able to tell when places that were recently producing,even if just smaller fish, have become desolate.  I can tell within 15 casts or so if the place has had a recent bass evacuation.

I would throw a jig in there also, get past the dinks quicker. Being known as a larger fish bait, the jig should also get through the foil a bit better than let's say, somthing with trebles.

Throw a crankbait if there was ever a time to throw one it was then! What do you think the bass was feeding on? It was the rockbass. Swimming a jig would do the same thing.
