Man you guys are a wealth of information!!

I generally catch a few here and there but I have a home lake that I fish that gives me fits some times.

I am a member of a local fishing club with about 300 members about 200 of those are over 50 and rarely bass fish ( a lot of crappie and walleye).

The lake has plenty of bank runners and occasionaly you can catch a nice 2-4 pounder. The lake is owner by our local water company and is part of a resevoir system. The mean depth is probably 12 feet with the deepest I have graphed at 21 feet. The lake is about 50 acres and has 2 distinctive pipelines that run from one side to the other. These pipeline create bubble areas approximately 5-6 feet in diameter nearly the whole length of the lake. After fishing the other afternoon with only 5 under my belt I noticed that these bubbles held enormous clouds of shad and you could see some bass clearing the water just flat out blasting them!! The pipes are about 15 feet deep and no other visible structure in the middle of the lake. I'm sure they are bass and I saw some break the water that were... well lets just say large...

My question to you guys is.. How in heavens name can I catch these boys..I'm not accustomed to fishing in appearingly dead water but for definitive clouds of shads and big ol' bass breaking the surface.

C'mon... don't hold back!! Any Ideas?

I have caught Hybrids and stripers.. even white bass in the jumps with rogues and hair jigs but these are just whooping my butt!

You may be able to ask this in the general fishing catagory and get more responses. Just a suggestion.

I would try a spinnerbait or a rattle-l-trap on the edges of the schools of shad or maybe a fluke and let it fall out of the ball.  From what I understand the bass will feed on those on the edges.  Let the bait fall like it has been injured.
