My home lake has been seeing winds steady at around 15 mph with gusts to 20+.  this is making it very difficult to fish worms and even jigs.  Spinnerbaits don't do well here and I'm still trying to figure out why.  The best baits right now are ratltraps and crankbaits.  The bigger fish are starting to bite.  What technique do you think my best chance for a lunker is right now.  

SE Florida high 70's shoreline dropes quickly to 8' color is stained no structure just weedline on shore and submerged moss and grass in coves. Center channel about 12' right now.

Sunday was a sunny,bluebird day...with 20+ mph winds.The main lake was whitecapping.I stuck to the calmer coves and feeder creeks.With the high pressure front moving through,I pitched and flipped a Strike King chartreuse pepper w/ "bleeding" tenicles tube in and around all of the many  laydowns that Katrina left us.Caught 5 that averaged around 2.5 pounds.

This may be a little outside of the box but it has worked for me. Throw a spinnerbait with either chartruse or white bldes or a combination of the 2. I have read that fish have trouble seeing flash in windy condition because the chop on the water distorts their vision somewhat. I have caught plenty of fish on windy points using a nickle or gold blade, but in the skinny water i have much better luck with the painted blades when the wind is howling.

in the shallows of santee cooper, i try to find a semi-blocked site & throw the spinner bait (chartruese w/copper colorado blades.)  ...this time of year in florida, better be careful, something might stretch your line .

Try ripping a rogue jerkbait near outside grass lines and burning lipless crank through cover....Basically just fish really fast with reaction baits  

Rip that trap or try a suspending jerkbait. If they are tight to cover then beef up your weight of your jig or worm so that you can still feel in the wind. The fish will have no problem still picking it up.
