cemetary ponds

Featured Replies

I was wondering if any of you have heard of this before. I just recently leared that the cemetary by my former high school has two ponds that are open for fishing. I was wondering if anyone else has fished any of these before. Thought that it might be kinda different. I plan on going out and giving it a try, just have to make sure I go when no kids are drinking so I don't get hasseld by the cops.

never heard of it, but if there are bass to be caught i say give it a try.  good luck

theres a cemetary pond about 15 mins. from my house.  we only go there in the winter.  thats when the fish are REALLY active.  its kinda weird, in summer its like winter fishin there, and in winter its like spring fishin.  idk.  we caught alot of bass there.  and all we throw are flukes on it.  good luck

When I was growing up there was a pond at the cemetary.  It wasn't in the view of anyone visiting the cemetary so I didn't feel it was disrespectful to go fish it.  It wasn't anything too special but it wasn't fished by anyone else either so it was like our secret.

Well I went last night to check out the pond for the first time. In the last 3 months no fishing and trespassing signs were posted. We were also unable to even see the ponds because I believe they are on the section of land that is owned but unused. This area was seriously overgrown with wild grass and weeds. We decided that it would be best not fish there and avoid any complications, especially since as I said earlier many of the highschool kids go to that cemetary to drink. We figured the police might be coming by since it was a Friday night so we just went somewhere else. Too bad I heard there were supposed to be decent fish there.

If it is a private cemetary you may be able to still get permission from the land owner. We used used to camp in this really neat spot in the woods by a creek when we were young, I guess in Jr. High and come to find out it was on the edge of a really old cemetary 1700 and 1800's. We never bothered it except to look around, it never bothered us and the land owner didn't mind. So if the decicion was based on underage drinking it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Yes.  I fish two cemetary ponds, where I have family buried.  Most of the time, I go, and pay my respects to my family, and then, I go fishing.

One pond yielded my largest bass to date, a 8 lbs. 6 oz. hawg.

The same pond has also yielded a nice 5 lbs. bass, along with several that range from 1-3 lbs.

The other pond is bigger, and a lot clearer.  I hooked into a bass there, and a visitor of the cemetary saw the bass when she jumped, and swore that she was every bit of 12 lbs.  I think that it might be the 8-6, cause, I put her in that pond for bluegill and crappie control.

During the winter and spring is when I get the best action, and it fades off during the summer.

I have not caught a lot out of the two ponds lately.

Awe -- Go on and go fishing, the interned people won't bother you and most Cops fish and won't bother people quietly fishing and being good citizens. Good Luck and let usknow how it goes.
