Dad overreacting (funny pet-peeve)

Featured Replies

I cant stop laughing about my dad's hooksets and how every fish he hooks, he acts like it's an absolute hawg.

We went out this weekend and had a great time catching a few fish, but I noticed that my dad was getting flustered when I kept catching fish after fish.  Well long story short, my dad finally hooked a bass and when he set the hook he shook the rod, gave a grunt and said "here we go boys".  I though it was a giant the way he was reacting, but it only turned out to be a dink.  He did this another time during the day but I have been giving him heck all week about it.

I wish you guys could have seen this, it was hilarious.

p.s. I sure feel lucky to have such a cool pop.

That's great! Enjoy fishing with your dad. I wish my father had lived to retire and we could have done the same type things. My father sacrificed much of his time for me as a kid and I was looking forward to returning the favor. It would not have been a sacrifice but a lot of fun. He was always completive with me when fishing but not in a bad way because he used it to make me better. In anything you learn more playing others with more skill than you have.   :)

Remember those fond memories of dear ole dad(and don't give him too much hail...LOL).Most kids dad wouldn't think about taking 'em fishing. One day you'll look back at this and smile.I wish I had my Daddy. He took me trotlining for catfish every Saturday night that he could.

My dad's reaction is always the exact opposite. Any time he gets a hit, he will say "It's just grass" or "Dam, I got stuck on the bottom" as his drag starts to sing and his pole tip bends over towards the middle of the lake. I love fishing with my dad and spending time with him doing something we both enjoy.

Everyone reacts differently, some funnier than others.  My friend Nick looks like he's having a grand mal seizure everytime he gets a nibble........funny stuff.
