I am visiting family in the Fox Chain of Lakes in Illinois with no way to fish.  A friend of the family was supposed to buy a fishing boat but never found one he liked.  I came up for two weeks thinking I was going to be fishing.  I will be here until June 14 (Wednesday) and want to go fishing bad.  If anyone has a boat and can fit another person I would gladly help with fuel.  I can see the lake from the house, drive by them 10 times a day, and can't wet a line.  I have my own gear with me.

I know its a lot more fun from a boat but don't let not having one stop you from fishing!!!!

I keep getting ran off, they need to put signs up.  I am looking for more shore places and will but this was also an option.

Try renting a boat. Any marinas on that lake? Get a truck tire inner tube and have a blast floating in it. Buy a cheap little paddle and some rope. Tie the rope across the tube to make a sling you can sit on.

Is this a chain of private lakes???

Here in oklahoma there are only a couple of lakes that people can own property all the way to the water. If thats the case then that really stinks!!!!!!

Shore fishing available at the state parks, the people you are staying with should be able to direct you there. Boat rental is also available on the chain. Iwould advize against a float tube or similar type home made innertube device on the chain because, a user fee sticker must be on all watercraft there and the DNR are very strict in enforcing. Not very far from where you are are some other lakes with good shoreline fishing, Lilly lake on rte 120 3or so miles west of rte 12 has some very nice Bass, catch and release only. Also in the Round lake area there is a catch and release lake behind the Walmart and the train station in the vicinity of Rollins road and rte. 83. Moraine(spelling) Hills state park has a number of lakes with shoreline access also on lake Defiance the bait shop  rents boats.
