If this was where you fished...

Featured Replies

Where would you start? What would you use? I usually go about 6pm-8pm

We do not have a boat so all our fishing is done on from the bank. 2 months ago we were catchin bass by the weeds, now nothing. If I cast a senko staright out I can get maybe one bass. The kids used a bluegille and got 3 bass all about 4-6' from the bank.

Most of the pics were from a few months ago when water was cooler. Last 2 was 6/6.

Well, it's a small enough body to get to know.  I would say you could fish every inch and know it intimately in 2 or3 outtings.

Try a super fluke in and around any grass or vegetation.

Sal,

I live just south of you and my home lake went through the same thing. Whats been working for me in that time slot is a Rapala Shallow Shad Rap with a steady retrieve. Good Luck.

I fish small ponds like this all the time. The best way to catch bass is a t-rigged plastic worm. Cast parallel to shore about 10ft out and slowly reel. Then walk down the bank a little further and repeat. Continue moving from spot to spot until you have gone around the whole pond. That's the most effective way. In the morning, buzzbaits will work very well, but in the evening I like a topwater popper. If you can get out there when it starts raining, the fishing should be excellent. Just make sure there's no lightning. By the way, this pond is in Florida right?

Senkos and worms were workin great now nothing.

I fished a pond just like it when I was in Florida except there were no peacocks in it.But,I will bet there is submerged grass out in the middle. We caught are fish on 10" worms and horny toads.

i would just keep pounding at that grass in there.  Fish will stay in that thick stuff all year, just different techniques have to be used to catch them.  Have you tried ripping a rattletrap through there??

No I have not tried a rattle trap at all. I have a baby bass colored bait that is very tiny it has caught bluegille, oscar and 3 lil bass. I tried a rapala shad and nothing so far but I think it may swim to deep for what I need. I will get a ratltrap next trip to Walmart.

looking at that grass on the second pic and looking like it is about evening, I would love to throw a buzzbait and watch a big one blow it up.

What color buzz bait? Silver blade? How big you suggest?

I used a pop R over there at nightfall and caught one. I didn't see the "explosion" I was poppin and then turned my head to look at my stepson and then I felt a tug.

a firetiger crank or something else that looks like a bluegill.

a firetiger crank or something else that looks like a bluegill.

yea go with that becuase if your kids caught it off of live ones, you know that they like that color and you should try that some more

If none of those suggestions produce I'd put a plastic frog or rat in the grass and leave it there a long time barely twitching it. A second choice would be a 10" worm rigged weightless, in the grass, messing around slowly. I'd also get a tube to float around in there so I could get different angles with lures.

If T-rigged senkos were working before and they are not working now, try throwing a jig with a Berkeley Gulp trailer.  Find out what the bass are feeding on by opening the stomach of one that you catch.  Match the jig and pig colors to what you see in the stomach.  I practice catch and release, but sometimes I keep one to eat and always cut open the stomach to see what they are eating.  The next time I go out, I fish colors of the forage that they are feeding on and that seems to work.
