Windy and cloudy?

Featured Replies

So we are getting our first tropical depression maybe storm. The weather here is cloudy and pretty windy and about 90 degrees. The water I fish is clear/stained. What should I be trying this week? I have an assortment of soft plastics, a few top water, crank baits and only 2 spinner baits (chart and chart/black).

I would go with the spinnerbaits and crankbaits, and maybe a topwater prop lure or a buzzbait. You can also buzz the spinnerbait just below the surface. Stay away from the soft plastics if it is really windy because you won't be able to feel what they are doing under water.

White type of blade or blades on the spinner baits? If it matters I fish from the bank not from boat.

Should be a great week for fishing. I'll echo spinnerbaits, cranks, and buzz baits, adding carolina rigging is not a bad choice on a windy day. If you can find a couple spots sheltered from the wind though, and get a t-rigged something in there, fish there. I usually concentrate on those kind of spots for as long as they produce on windy days. I catch a lot of bass by fishing soft plastics with the wind, so that I can still maintain good feel also.
