Gonna head back out starting in July

Featured Replies

This month i have my kids for the month and its just so miserably hot that I am avoiding taking them to the lake till the weather cools off. While I can tolerate long periods in the sun,im not so sure about my kids.

Anyway starting in July Im gonna head back out and start hittin a local lake. What kind of behavior should I expect at this time of year. May was post spawn from what I know cause they started hittin top waters pretty good. Just wanted to get an idea of where the fish might be and what they may be doing(holding deep,feeding...ect)

So all I guess im really asking is..I havent been on the water in a month...what should my plan of attack be? I will be fishing from the bank.

I would try fishing the shallows first with topwaters in the morning and evening, and texas-rigged plastics in between. If you don't get anything shallow, then I would try deep and use a carolina-rigged plastic. If you have the time and the patience, you might even wanna try throwing a big swimbait or 12in worm and see if you can't catch a 10lb plus trophy. Night fishing is excellent at this time of year, but if you live in Louisiana or Florida, I strongly suggest against fishing at night from the bank due to alligators.
