Offshore structure and beyond?

Featured Replies

I feel like deep fish are an untapped resource on my home impoundment.Trying to find ledges and such and become better at finding the sweet spot within the spot and more refined in my methods and efforts of fishing them. I know the basics of using my graphs. Finding drop offs , humps, creek channels, points, grass, marking baitfish and structure....But how does what you are looking at relate to your boat postition on with a transom mount transducer as opposed to a trolling motor mount? What is the area underwater that you are being shown on the graph?

Based on a 20 degree cone transducer you are roughly seeing 1/3 of the bottom  so 30 ft will be about 10 ft coverage and 12 ft will be a niddle in a haystack.  I use a transom mount so I always know what position my transducer is sending and recieving without the movement of era of the motor being raised . A level will keep it in line each trip.
