Skipping baits?

Featured Replies

Well first off, what all lures can be skipped(Hopefully its called that).  THen how do it do it?  That is one thing I have never tried and want to learn how to do. Thanks

Frogs. Preferably a Dean Roja's Spro Frog or a River2Sea Bully Wa. Skip it like you would a rock on the water. Same method.

Any soft plastics that don't have alot of appendages and wings and things like that are great for skipping.  The easiest things to do is use spinning equipment so you won't get any backlashes.  All you do to make the cast is keep you rod tip close to the water during the whole swing.  It can be frustating at first but it just takes some practice.

Like they said almost any bait especially plastics can be skipped. The really high boyancy ones work really well like the 3X's. There have been quite a few instances on here where I've recommened the 3X zeros for skipping because the skip very well when wacky rigged and also they hold up better (great bait to learn with). Jig and pigs can be aswell since they have a pretty compact profile.

This older post has some good info and I'm pretty sure a few guys describe the skipping process in good detail http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1146873382/18#18

Hope this helps,
