Help with Small Pond Fall Fishing

Featured Replies

I have fished this pond every saturday in 4 weeks... and havent caught a thing only had one bite...I think im goin to go later on today.. I know to slow things down but what kinds of baits would you use??? I really would like to catch another fish before winter so any help would be nice.. air Temperature is 53

i have had a lot of luck with small suspending rapala baits worked slow.  At sundown ive still been getting a lot of hits on buzzbaits as well.  I dont use jigs much but my fishing partners have been catching some big ones on 1/2 oz black jigheads w/ a gycb baby craw trailer and some spider grub trailers.

    what have u been using?

4 weeks in a row? How bout all the fish are dead and that "bite" you had was a log. Find a new spot.

ok i was reading an article in a local paper and they said that the best lures to use is a mepps spinner or a rooster tail---LIGHT COLORS with CHROME BLADES and fish it very slowly--just enough to spin the blade....another bait is a chrome with blueback lipless crank bait--fished very fast!

good luck

maybe try some superflukes and some suspending baits you can work really slow, or any countdown lure you can try at different depths.  as far as other soft plastics i been getting skunked on the senkos myself but i have caught a few on fat ikas rigged backwards, havent been taking them rigged forward for some reason.  Also if u use live bait they have been going crazy for shiners in my ponds lately

I'd try a jig if I was you.  Pitch it into bass holding structure, and just jiggle it up and down.

My area for fall fishing is a pond with submerged weeds all over. Shallow crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and inline spinners all have worked down to a water temperature of about 45°.

We just got out of a cold front where im at and I had luck with a blue and black Jig-N-Pig today. I threw it in about 5 feet of water on a submerged tree and bounced it once and slowly it swam of with it. It was a 5.3 pound bass. I also caught one on a spinner bait worked much slower than usual, and my most productive bait has been a watermelon colored senko. My buddy caught one on a crankbait just an hour ago rite after sun set ........so thats whats been going for me.....good luck :)
