I just wanted to get some peoples insight on what they found out this last fall.  Give me the details of what pattern produced your most consistance fish and the largest stringer of fish.  All the details : air temp, water temp, lure used, and the way you fished it.

Solid hook sets

For me it was anything that looked like crayfish or shad. Fishing the bottom mainly, in around cover or structure changes. I fish till the lake freezes, so cold water temps, air....stupid cold lol

For me it was sunken rock piles on a weed transition areas.  Water temps were in the mid 60's, with the air temp at 70 - 74 degrees.  My lures of choice are crankbaits for those monster smallies.  Usually Rapala DT's and a few other brands like Strike King, Bagley's to name a few,  fished with 10lb Vanish florocarbon on a Shimano Crucial 7ft cranking rod with a chronarch.  I have also caught some great buckets using a 1/2 ounce Title Shot jig with a Phenix craw on some of the outside mat edges of milfoil weed beds in 4 - 8ft of water.

i missed the hottest part of the fall pattern due to work, but for me it was mainly rattletraps in 4ft of water.  water temps ranged from 60-50

Here goes my lake tactics:

Rattle trap along the drop offs. Spinner bait in the sheltered areas of the lake that still have green vegetation. And jigs and Paca Craws in the creek channels.

Meduim diver with rattles for the change up with the rattle trap. Fishing all of it slower and with lighter weight on the jigs and soft plastics when wind allows.

Creeks and small rivers: TUBES! Man I cannot even say how effective they have been in the past two or three weeks! I use a larger tube about three inches or so, and I buy them in bulk at the local Academy Sports. One of the things I love is that these tubes have red eyes and I think that has made a big difference. I pitch it into slack water areas and kind of shake it, and then just hold on! Seems like every spotted bass in Central Al, is ready to attack! Great fall fishing! Oh and the heaviest I use is only 3/16oz.
