Spawn Period

Featured Replies

Quick question -- I've been reading a lot of stuff but I seem to have missed something.

When is the spawn period?  What months?

Thanks!

Depends on where you live. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I beleive it starts when the water temp reaches 63-65 degrees...

I live in GA.  You are correct -- I did read that somewhere but I'm still kinda confused because there has to be a range (in months) that is considered "the spawn."  I guess I should look up in what months that water temp. is that range.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah, I think that's about right.  I think high 50's the males are making the beds and the females are on points, then they move in with in around 3-5 days when the temps warm to the low 60's.  I think smallmouth bass spawn at different times than do the Largies.

I don't know when spawn starts but here in South Florida i know at my lake there are big bass sitting on beds. Tommorow i will catch these spooky beasts.

Where in GA do you live?  If I remember correctly from one of your first post you live in Southern Ga. Start looking for the fish to spawn down there in March or even as early as mid February in the protected Northwest pockets of the lake.

I live in Alpharetta, GA.  Fulton County.

I normally fish Lake Varner, and Lathem.  I'm a beginner and was told that those were good lakes to start.

In that case start looking for spawning bass from about the 20th of April till the water temps get into the mid 70's.

I live up in NE georgia and the water temps here begin to go up about the end of april first of may. But that all depends on the type of weather we are having at time. The last copule of years the spawn has not started till about the first of May.
