Has anyone hit up the lake this spring and gone fishing from shore?

Are there any tips that you could share with me to help me catch one?

Im going tomorrow and need help!!!

Spring? Doesn't winter end in March?!?!

Guess that depends on where you be living at...  You may be iced in, but us from the southern states  have been fishing all the time thru this cooler weather..

I fish from the bank a lot early in the year. Fish down the bank in front of you. I usually cast directly down the bank and then fan cast in a clockwise motion until I'm casting down the bank behind me. I then move up about 20 feet and repeat. I usually fish fairly fast with a small spinnerbait. After I have been around the lake or pond once. I start back around, but this time I switch to a lizard or worm and fish slow. If there are two of you, the first person fishes along with the fast moving spinnerbait and the second person follows with the soft plastic.

Yowza, it's freezing cold where I'm located!  You're one lucky cat!

Rig up a spinnerbait, or do like I do and rig a lizard and find the best looking place on your lake - at this time of year I'd suggest the warmest NW part - and fancast like crazy.

If the lake is large enough, then we wear some waders since the water is cool and wade the backs of the bays.  Topwaters, shallow cranks/rattle baits, spinnerbaits, and weightless plastics work really well doing this.  Make really long casts though since most of the fish right around you will have probably been spooked though.

Its not really spring yet but pop-r's work really well for me after the thaw also 7" powerbait ribontails seem to catch a bunch for me in the spring, lizards as well a little closer to spawn time

Do you think that these lures would work from shore in the pre spawn.
