Local Pond Help

Featured Replies

I live In Newport News Va, and have been fishin this local pond with my friends for years...It seemed at one point the fish were pretty active but as the years went on its turned more into a place to talk instead of catching fish; making it the last lake on our the list of places to fish. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on what we should try, to find where the fish are hangin out. We are unable to fish the entire lake due to anti fishing neighbors so we are limited. Could it just be that the spots we have been fishing are just over fished and they have moved to less fished areas of the lake?

any info would help.. if you need more info on the lake let me know

first of all welcome to the forum and to answer your question it could be that the fish have moved but i doubt it maybe u should try new baits throw stuff at them that they have never seen before or throw the stuff that looks exactly like the stuff that they are eating. maybe try to slip a little john boat into the lake if possible.

I'd say the pond may be fished out. Don't know how big it is, or how much fishing pressure it receives... but I've seen it before. A small lake a few miles from my house used to be amazing a few years back. Now its become pretty popular and has been make a city park. Fishing isn't the same. Too many people keep the fish the catch. Which is why you should always catch and release.

Na, my best be for you, is to maybe cut some branches from trees and throw them in the lake strategically. Fishing pressure takes away the catch.

I dont believe its fished by other people that often. Of course I dont know who is there when im not but i have never had to share the lake with anyone besides my friends and we have been there for years. Yeah we also always throw back what we catch!

Thanks for the info fellas!
