Fly rodders get ready

Featured Replies

It' only the second week of May but the June bugs are swarming.

The bluegill were feasting.  The surface was so alive with gills dining on June bugs that it

almost looked like it was raining.

could I get a bass bite going?   ....................... Nope.

I did mange two but I threw out everything in an 8 hour day.

I wonder if some of you folk wisdom fishing types don't have a saying for that.

You know like the "Wind from West fishin is best"  thing.

Maybe you know one like " When th June bugs are a matin' the popper is for baitin'"

or something very colloquial like that.

Anyway the june bugs are out and the gills love em.  So a fly rod with an appropriate dry fly will kill em.

A 3wt fly rod, a couple of small hopper patterns and bluegill. Just about as much fun as you can have with your pants on.
