We've had a couple posts recently that recommend being stealthy when approaching the bank.  This is obviously good advice.  But I have a 2 questions I've been wondering about here lately.

1. Are bigger bass spookier than the dinks?  That seems like a reasonable thing.  After all, if a bass is easily spooked it seems like he/she would have a better chance of getting to that bigger size.

2. How far away will I spook fish when I approach the bank?  In other words, if I walk up to the bank without trying to be sneaky, will I spook the bass 10 ft down the bank?  30 ft? 50 ft?

In my limited expierience, I have not noticed that big bass are more spookier than smaller bass.  

   Normally if I spook a bass off from the bank ot will return in a few minutes.  They normally only go about 10-20ft off the bank.  Often I will see the wake of a bass headed away from shore and will cast infront of it and catch it.  

   It also depends on the water clarity.  Recently in a muddy pond I was fishing, I could stand about five feat away from the bank and catch spawners.  I had to get really close to them to spook them.
