Fishing Routine

Featured Replies

During the summer months, what is your fishing routine for sunny and cloudy days? Please discuss areas fished, baits & techniques used, and timeline for these routines. I'm trying to develop a strategy and looking for opinions.

only you can decide whats gonna be a good routine for you,  one guy will come and say blah blah blah, and another will come and say  something else  your gonna get all kind of different oponions and answers.  you have to decide what will be the way for you,  everyone starts different times and start with different patterns, different lakes and different structure.

Regardless of sunny/cloudy conditions, the first lure I'm going to start with is a topwater on points/grassbeds/brush/blowdowns.  If it's cloudy, chances are I'll stay with topwater a little longer than on a bright day.  If it's one of those hot/sunny days like we've been having around here lately, once the sun starts pounding the water I'll switch to pitching a lure into the brush/blowdowns or perhaps go to a med. running crankbait.  If there's a breeze I might go to a spinnerbait, trying various retrieves.  There isn't really a set "routine" other than hitting topwater early on.  I don't program myself to a script ;)
