USGS - Find water levels, temps online

I have been using the USGS website for a while to plan fishing trips but for some reason I had neglected to make a post about it. I figured most people would know about it but I just remembered it today so I figured I'd make a post just in case you guys haven't heard about it. It is really helpful

You can find water flows, height, and sometimes clarity and temperature on the internet so you can see find out information about the water you plan on fishing before you even get in the car...

the website is www.usgs.gov

Click on your state on the map to the right, then click "Real-Time Water Data" and then "Statewide Streamflow table." This will bring up a list of most of the waters in your state, grouping them based on their watersheds. Some watersystems have more than one point at which data is taken so find the sensor on your body of water that is closest to where you'll be fishing it. The sensor stations provide water flow and gage height and some even provide water temperatures and clarity.

I hope this isn't old news and that it is helpful.

Excellent site.

We get so used to trashing our politicians that we forget how robust our government services are.

God bless the bureaucracy.

I use this site all the time. It gives info on what the rivers in eastern NC are

doing before I get to a tournament in the mornings. When I know weather

the river is rising or falling up stream helps me a lot in making my game

plan. It also helps my bank account.
