Bill Dance Fishing Course

Featured Replies

Does anyone out there have this course?  Was it worth the money.  I have been contemplating on purchasing this as I want to become a better fisherman this year.

I have seen his ads for the course and if you want to spend the money you can learn a few things.

However, you may do better investing in DVDs, videos, books and seminars to focus on those areas where you think you need help.

For instance, Kevin VanDam and Denny Brauer have excellent productions and books on jig fishing plus flipping and pitching.

Ike has productions to help you plan for a fishing tournament or a trip plus other wonderful information.

Woo Daves productions are very informative and worth every cent.

Dr. Kieth Jones book is very informative although some experts do not agree with his conclusions.

The In-Fishermen DVDs and videos are also very, very good.

And try to attend seminars of local pros, guides and then the B.A.S.S. and FLW professionals.  Ike's seminars are fantastic.  Hank Parker and Jimmy Houston are great.

And check out the topics on this forum plus Google your topics and see what other sites and pros have to say. There are hundreds of articles on techniques, baits, bodies of water, tackle and boating. And they are free!

The final decision is yours.  You cannot go wrong either way.

However, remember that people selling their "information" have an alternative motive to have you purchase their material. It is called money. And their ads have to entice you to make the purchase.

Have fun.

Like Sam said, you could probably learn a few things form it, but you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere.

I've got a few of the In-Fisherman DVD's, which I really like.

You can also pick up a lot of information in the BR articles.

How do you find out about the seminars, I would like to go to one of Ikes  ;D

I purchased a few DVD's on Fly Fishing and Fly Fishing for Bass and they were excellent. I also found that simply asking questions on BR and watching fine TV shows like Bass Pros and Angling Edge (and others) can increase one's knowledge immensly. IMO:o)

This site has much more tips and how too's than any DVD or course you can buy. Just apply what's here and you will be a better fisherman.

I recently got the 3 series of dvds by KVD and found them to be very good and informative. After watching them I used this and another forum to clear up the gray areas.

Any seminar or class you can attend will help you and then come here to ask any questions that come up afetr that.

ya i have them and they are ok.....about half the video is him saying, "wooo boy lokie there". ;D

but they are still pretty good

I know Ike started a video series I have the first one, and I haven't seen anymore at least on his website.

It is interesting that this should come up just now.

Yesterday after cursing at my snow-blower for crapping out (it still ain't going) I came in the house and got out some old 3M tapes I have. One was a Glen Lau film called BASS (could have been Largemouth) either way Lau had an Afro back then. The others were by Bill Dance. He had no grey hair and was skinny. Another was by a guy named Homer Circle. Homer featured a couple of up and comers in the fishing world named Al Lindner and Roland Martin. The guys had electronics alright but they were the Lowrance in the box flasher units and hand held thermometers. Roland Martin was fishing out of a jon boat. ;D

I don't remember the other guys name except he fished out of wooden boat, dragging suckers behind, and trolling with a Shakespeare electric trolling motor. Homer caught a 12 pound largemouth and released it right into the cooler.

As you can see, these were some old tapes, but after all these years I still enjoy them, recall a few things I forgot, and remember back when my waist was smaller then my chest and numbers meant more then just fishing.

You would be better off just going to either BPS or Cabela's and checking out their DVD Bass fishing sections. Pick the ones that interest you. I purchased "The Bass Pros 2007 Season" and was very pleased with the overall content.

The Bill Dance Fishing Course

Step 1: Get permission from a wealthy friend to fish their man-made lake stocked with giant bass.
