muddy water

Featured Replies

WEnt to one of my favorite lakes today,Bluebird skies in the morning, clouded up later.Anyway the water was high and almost(but not quite) chocolate milk.So I threw large bladed chart. spinnerbaits, rattletraps, and pitched a blue/black jig up in the flooded brush. My  school of thought was to throw reaction bites and darker colors due to the muddy water. So I finally gave up and tied on a green/pumpkin trick worm and caught 2 bass deadsticking it and missed 2 more fish in 30 minutes. Then my wife calle and said it was time to go.

My point is even though I read the books, articles, tips and everything else bass fishing, the bass apparently don't lol. :)

Garry, finicky fish are finicky fish and the water clarity doesn't always change their feeding habits, especially in heavily fished waters. Your point is well taken and you are correct in using big vibes first in these situations. But some fish don't necessarily have to have big vibrations when water is really murky and can become a bit panicky since they can't see anything at all and have to rely completely on other senses to navigate as well as avoid danger. I have also noticed that deep water big fish usually are not bothered by muddy water near as much as smaller ones in shallower water...

Go figure ?? I stocked up on black and black chart. spinners and I just happend to get some multi colored tiki stiks and had no luck on the loud spinners and most of the fish I caught were on the orange-ish tikies, my partner was using a brown jig craw trailer that was almost the same color of the water here at Little Dixie (Mid. MO)and caught most of them on that????

Yea, bass don't read the books  :-?
