brush pile advice

Featured Replies

will fresh cut oak slash of decent size stay put, or do i have to tie a block to it?

the branches are about 4 inches in diameter and 15 feet long.  i have done a few in the past and had them stay in the same area, but someone said if i dont put a block on them, theyll move.  true or false?

thanks.

Take how much weight you think you need(concrete, blocks, etc.) and triple that mount to ensure that it stays down.  I learned this the hard way and picking up brush piles after they have floated to shore, adding weight, and replacing them is a pain in the bass.

Definitely weigh them down. You'll be glad you did.

Fresh cut Oak branches will not float for at least 6 months... Branches are not as dense and more porous then a log and that helps them sink for now... However I'm with all the others on here I would definatley say tie it down. You don't want to start a little cover and then let it move on you!

Good Luck To You!!! 8-)

When we are looking for something to weigh them down we find a brick company in the area and go ask if we can have some of their broken bricks. They have alway said yes and I've been to several different companies.
