Gravel Pit Fishing

Featured Replies

Any of you guys fish Gravel pits?  If so, what have you noticed with pit fishing that's different than fishing other bodies of water?

For example, when spawning, bass will many times move to the shallows for warmer water, and make nests and lay eggs.  But what  about a gravel pit with no flats or shallow water?

The pits I fish are like bowls with dropoffs starting right at shore and getting deeper as you move away from shore.

So what are the bass relating to during the spawn, in a gravel pit like this?

What about feeding and hunting?  Many times I'll notice the bass moving closer to shore to hunt in the shallows when it starts getting dark outside.  But there is no "shallows" in a bowl shaped pit, so how does this change their hunting activity?

How should my strategy differ in a bowl shaped pit, compared to many other ponds and lakes?

if the water is clear with very big rocks(which mine are) they will literally spawn right in top of a rock.
