Picked Up a New Rod/Reel Today

Featured Replies

I have to thank my wife for being real nice while both of my arms are messed up. I can't fish and/or drive so I getting really bored. Today she drove me to Bass Pro Shops and I bought a new setup. Looked at a lot of stuff on the web and today at the store. Ended up buying a Bass Pro Johnny Morris Signature Series LH reel and a Bass Pro Pro Series Finesse 6'6" M action rod. I loaded the reel with 14# test Siffix Mono ( I like this line on another reel I have). Also went with mono, for now, to help keep costs down a bit. I got a good deal on the reel. The regular price is $179+change, they had at the store on sale for $149+change. Before I left home I looked on the website and it was listed at $129+change. Asked at store for the $129 price and got it at that. Not bad, $50 off. Just in time too, sale ends after tomorow.

Looks and feels like a rear nice setup. The reel is exceptionally smooth with the 10 bearing + roller. Hopefully it will last as well as my very old Shimano Bantam that is about 30 years old and still looks and works like a new one.

Sounds like a nice outfit.

That's a good tip on checking the price online before you go to BPS.  I've done that a few times and twice it saved me over $50 on each purchase.  Once on a reel and once on a 5/5 BPS onboard charger system.
