The Toyota Texas Bass Classic (TTBC), the professional bass fishing world championship, will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports this Saturday, November 21. The broadcast will air from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. CST (2:00 - 3:00 p.m. EST) and will feature highlights from three days of competition, with a focus on the crowning of the 2009 Toyota Texas Bass Classic champion.

"This will be a show that no fishing fan wants to miss," said CBS co-host Dave Mercer. "It is three action-packed days slammed into a one hour segment, and these anglers brought in some unbelievable catches. Just to give all the fans a sneak peek, I will let you know it came down to the very last fish caught."

The TTBC was held October 16 - 18 on Lake Conroe. For the first year, the TTBC was positioned as the world championship of the PAA Tournament Series and the format was an individual angling competition, making the event a true world championship.

The field was comprised of 60 world-class anglers, all qualified members of the PAA who earned spots based on PAA Tournament Series finishes or other merits. This includes some of the most prominent names in the world of tournament bass fishing, like Kevin VanDam, a five-time Toyota Tundra Angler of the Year on the Bassmaster Elite Series, and Clark Wendlandt, the 2009 FLW Tour Angler of the Year.

The TTBC focuses heavily on conservation. It adheres to strict size limits and implements a catch, weigh and immediate release format that have earned the event national praise. Through the TTBC, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) has received $750,000 to benefit their first-class youth fishing and outreach programs.

The Toyota Texas Bass Classic is sanctioned by the Professional Anglers Association with technical assistance and support from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department?s Inland Fisheries Division. Title sponsor for the event is Toyota. Dick?s Sporting Goods is the official sporting goods provider. The Saturday Concert is presented by Evan Williams, the official bourbon of the TTBC. MillerCoors is the official beer. 100.3 KILT and SportsRadio 610 are the official radio partners. Phoenix Boats is the official boat of the TTBC. Waste Management is the official trash and recycling partner. The tournament is held on Buffalo Springs, a planned development in the City of Montgomery. Nice, get some exposure on non-cable channels, too bad almost everyone watches football.

What a fantastic lead-in for the LSU Fighting Tigers-Ole Maid Webbles football game at 3:30.  ;D   ;D   ;D

Thanks for the heads up on that man. I'll have to check it out.

my cbs station is running football.

not this event.

i hate college football. now this...........

I really liked the weigh on the boat and release, a bit less dramatic than a weigh in, but a great deal for the health of the fish.  Pretty cool I think.

Yes I agree it is neat format but one that bothers me is not all of their scale are created equal. Give or take +/- difference per scale.

Anybody want to send me a copy of it? CBS had the FSU / Maryland game on in my area.

The show ran from 1-2:30 CST. The DirecTV program guide indicated it only ran from 1-2. At 2 the guide asked if I wanted to record the College football show at 2. I said no and the DVR shut off for the last 1/2 hour of the program. What kind of goofy **** was that?

::)

Didn't miss much. Pretty much another typical fishing tournament broadcast just without the meat show for a weigh in.
