Insanity

Featured Replies

I have been told that the definition of Insanity is performing the same actions over and over always expecting different results.

I go out try the same baits and same techniques again and again(sometimes, only rarely, changing up the style, technique or approach)

I cast over and over and everytime I expect a strike,I dont get a strike, but yet I continue to do it over and over.

Must mean im insane... :D

Anyone else?

I might be a shorebound angler, but I'm in the same boat as you. I have only recently realized it's okay to switch it up. The key is knowing when to switch and when to stick with something. Not always easy. Insane in the membrane! ;D

I confess to getting caught in this trap, too. But what I have been doing recently to try to "rehab" is to plan at least 4 techniques that I think might work on each outing - I take one set for each technique and lay them out before I launch - I always give each technique enought time to work and try to think about small changes such as watermelon for green pumpkin or a medium crank bait for a shallow runner.

Then I spend the rest of the day throwing a Senko ::)

K, the scariest part, is that the people that DO get bites and fish would almost be in the same "insane" boat.  They spend days at a time doing the same things expecting different results every time.

Does that make all fisherman insane?
