Where to place brushpiles?

Featured Replies

I'm getting ready to place some more brush piles in my subdivision lake (only 17 acres but has a dam) and would appreciate some advice on what exactly to look for when placing them.

The the deepest part of the pond is approx. 15' (near the center)  with plenty of shallow flats that drop off to about 7-10'. My thinking was to place them on the deeper side of the drop offs near the dam where fish would probably be suspending.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a fix on where the channel runs - try to find a spot where the channel makes a bend or swing and drop them there.  JMO

You need to place them in locations where the fish already are.  Bends, creek channel mouths, just outside of spawning flats, outside of drop offs.  IMO, brush piles are more effective at congregating fish in an area than drawing fish to a new area.
