Tru-Tungsten & Spro Shad & Sebile Question

Featured Replies

I know the TT & Spro & similar jointed swimbaits in the 4" or so size have wake/slow/ fast sinking models while the Sebile Magic Swimmer is a slow sink.

What I am curious about these jointed swimbaits are, are these all technically wake baits???  Even though they sink, even the fast sink ones; they come to the surface quickly or eventually.  I know that you can also use them as a jerkbait.

So that's the main purpose is of these swimbaits are to be a wake lure?  Does that hold true for the soft paddle tail swimbaits like the Yum Money Minnow & the likes?

I have several of the SPRO BBZ's and I know what you're talking about. Mine are Slow Sink but when twitched or reeled at a faster pace they do tend to head to the surface and can be kept there fairly easily. They are considered swimbaits and not technically wakebaits like the Jackall Mikey or new Strike King Wake Shad. The Sebile is also considered as a hard swimbait and can also be worked at the surface with a faster motion or retrieve. I can't speak for the Tru-Tungsten because I don't own any but I have to imagine that it too has similar characteristics in that slow sink fall rate. I have heard pro's and con's about that bait but it does look great. I can say from experience that the BBZ is my favorite of all of the swimbaits in that size range. It looks fantastic and catches fish, works for me! Good luck.

I have all three of those baits.  But I've only caught fish on the tru-tungsten.  I haven't fished with the other ones enough yet (maybe tomorrow ;) )but all three of them come right to the surface.  The Spro is a slow sink/wakebait and it might as well float if it were up to me.  Now the Sebile is a fast sink 110 size and it sinks like a rock, yet still comes right to the surface now matter how slow I go.
