That's all you caught?

I was going for big fish, I don't use the standard light tackle, 6lb line, and tiny little baits that most people do. If I had used my UL I probably would have caught more but they would have been about the size of my finger, I would much rather use a 3" tube and catch 8 or 10 nice 12+ inch fish than 15 little bite size things. Plus, a 15" fish is a good one for the Pony Pasture, although I have seen a 5lber come out of there :o

nice fish, same situation here, anything bass that bites gets me goin!

Ever catch striped bass at the pastures? they hit the tub I was using so hard I almost dropped my rod =(

and the most surprising thing was that they were only about 18in  :o

I can't even imagine a full size one, lol

Never heard of a stripped bass that far up the James River.

Good show!

Wow, I didn't know stripers came up that far. I might have to try'em come spring.

Yep, I caught them far in the back near that hidden dam you talked about in another thread, caught 3 in a row in less than 15 mins before they got smart =D

I've never fished the James, but I caught a striper or hybrid (not sure, don't have experience with them) west of Fredericksburg on the Rapidan River...

Probably a striper.

Why? Are there no white bass in that fishery?

Dan,

No one has ever said anything about any "white bass" in this area of the James River.

However, with that being said, no one can tell the fish where to go and they may just migrate through the rocks and rapids from Ancarrow to this part of the James.

I doubt they could swim over either the Williams or Z-Dams so I think that this is the farthest up river they could migrate.

Or, someone could have placed them in this part of the river and they are starting to live in the area.

My friend, Mike Ostrander of the James River Fishing School, would be a good source to ask. You can go to his web site and ask Mike if he knows of any stripers in this section of the river.
