Smallie fishin in SW Michigan?

Featured Replies

I live between K-zoo and Grand Rapids, and I was wondering if anyone could help with some good spots to catch smallies. I know the Kalamazoo River is "good" and Gull Lake holds some, but any new spots would help.

I understand not wanting to give away spots, tho. Thanks for any help.

Depends how far you want to go?  But, St. Clair is about as good as it gets.  If you want smaller waters, Cass Lake in Oakland county and Sylvan Lake have some nice smallies.

Austin Lake is the best smallmouth fishery in Michigan other than the Great Lakes

Wixom lake is awesome for smallies, and also sanford lake. alot of people dont know that but we have caught 5lbers outta there in spring and fall on a regular basis..white spinnerbaits and crankbaits are killer.

Gun Lake and the Thornapple River.
