PB Smallie

Featured Replies

I know it's nothing crazy, but it's my best so far. d**n, did this little bugger pull! I was throwing out a wacky senko, and when he bit i thought for sure i had a huge largemouth on. I have never been specifically going for smallmouth, but get a few here and there going for the lm. after the fight of this guy i may try to get more of them!

before anyone says anything, i know it's not good to lay them down like this, and it's not something I do. He was hooked in the very edge of his mouth and was fighting too hard for me to lip him without hooking myself. got the hook out, snapped a quick pick and he was back in the water in less than a few seconds. and the pole is not laying across it just looks that way from the angle

Are you fishing with a broken rod?

long story short, i was fishing with a buddy and his girl sunday night, and because of certain things that happened i dropped my pole when i almost fell out of the boat.... so yes lol.  getting a new one today after work so i have it for the weekend.

Haha ok just curious, I know how that feels, had a buddy "stumble" on one the other night and it snapped on the first hookset. Just glad it was an old berkley rod and nothing else.

yea, my main pole is at the bottom of the lake somewhere.... sucks!  i keep this one as a backup.  it still actually works great with senkos, they're heavy enough to still be able to feel them and whatnot.  can't cast very far though lol.  what i'll do sometimes is throw a spinner on my other pole, and keep the broken one handy with a senko.

haha at the broken rod, funny how things work and you go out and catch your pb smallie on it, congrats. you should really invest in some needle nose pliers though, much easier to fit in a fishes mouth

yea, funny right!  I have needle nose pliers, I just put those there for size reference because they were handy.

Nice fish.  Is that a highland smallie?  I've been shore fishing the Ramapo River lately and been doing great with numbers, but crappy with size.

yep, got that right off the dock with a wacky senko.  I've got a few going for largemouth, but i never go specifically for smallies so I only catch them here and there.
