Solar Battery Charger

Featured Replies

I have a 12 foot BassTender with 2 deep cycle batteries that I usually only use on the weekends. I'm looking for a solar charger to recharge the batteries after use. I have a fish finder but don't usually have it hooked up. The only real draw is the trolling motor and an automatic bilge pump that kicks on when it rains. Has anyone tried one of these and if so did it work?

The one I'm looking at is the 1.8 Watt version of the Sunforce® 12-Volt Battery Solar Charger

sold on Cabelas.

That solar charger is only about .25 amps. That is no where near enough power to recharge a deep cycle battery. You will need a solar panel at least as big as your boat even to begin to charge the battery. I think 120 watts, 10 amps, is the minimum you will need.
