First Trip Of The Year

Featured Replies

Well yesterday being nice and sunny and warm here in Western NY I decided to take the canoe out for the first trip of the year. I called my cousin, he came over after work and we headed up to the boat launch on a local creek. We fished for a couple hours before it got dark out, with neither of us catching anything. I did learn some new to me information the hard way though: stick jackets sink. As I was taking it off my rod, it was dangling in the water. I accidentally dropped it, and watched as it slowly slipped beneath the surface while gently drifting away with the current, just out of reach of my outstretched rod tip. I tried dragging it back up with the heaviest, snaggiest lures I own, but no luck.
