Behemoth Tungsten

I found my new supplier of tungsten weights. The holes are polished, the powdercoat is done right, the weights are accurate, and the holes are centered. They also peg easily with a bobber stop.

How is the pricing High? low?

I'd have to say it's probably cheaper on average. I think I paid $1.40 for 1/4, $1.85 for 3/8, and $3.26 for 3/4 in Green Pumpkin painted. If you some of the other weights and dive the per piece out, it's as much as $.44 lower for the 1/4 and $2 or more less for the 1oz.

They must be associated with Alley's tungsten or they just use the same picture and layout.

That was the first thing that I thought of yesterday when I checked out their website.

Me too, but the weights are definitely nothing close to one another.

They must have a problem with paypal cause u can add items to cart.

Yeah I noticed that. I may email them to see how they come packaged. It looks like they're individually priced.

It's the same as Alley's Tungsten. Aside from the layout, it's the same contact info... dwayne.davenport@comcast.net.

I just made my first order from Alley's yesterday for some bullets and d-shot weights.

Huh, Fooled me then. The two are nothing alike in terms of finished weights.

So you like the weights from Behemoth better than those from Alley's?

I do indeed. I will post a pic as to why, if I can get it to show, too.

I can't get a picture of it, so I'll try to explain it. The alley weights aren't as well finished over all, and the cavity on the backside isn't as deep or as well polished. The hole diameter is a lot larger as well. The Behemoth is well polished with a deeper cavity that meshes better to the bait. It seems like the knot is less likely to be damaged because of the polished surface, too. I really wish I had a better camera so you could see it.

That said, they may be the exact same weights from different batches, I don't know. It doesn't seem that way from the differences in the cavity, the polish, and the finish, but it could be.

The two are nothing alike in terms of finished weights.

I got to the bottom of this. Here's the pesponse from Dwayne Davenport after I asked him if they were different products.

"The only difference between the two is that the tackle shops specify the quantity they want in the pack. Otherwise they are the same product. We don't hand pick or process the product differently because of the Behemoth name.

When we started the company, we started it to sell to individuals, not tackle shops. We wanted fisherman like yourself to be able to buy a premium product at a fair price. The tackle shops worried the crap out of me because we were cheaper than anyone else, so we started selling to them and created the Behemoth brand.

Thanks again for your order,

Dwayne and Jennifer Davenport

Interesting. The difference I'm seeing isn't imaginary, though. It's such that I put a depth gauge on it and it's 15/100s different.

I believe it. I think I must have gotten the deeper ones. I'm happy with them for the price. I bought 4 sizes of the insert-free and they all look like they have the same characteristics and level of quality control.
