any luck on swim jigs

Featured Replies

I threw the original chatterbait quite alot this year and had alot of success on it, but i was wondering if anyone has thrown any of the other brands like booyah, gambler, stanley etc and had luck on them

I caught fish on the originals, but the components are pretty crappy. I am now using a custom built bait.

what problems did you have with the originals?

Dull hooks on every single Rad Lures Chatterbait I have bought.

Also chipped paint/enamel on a lot of the blades.

As far as booyah goes, I haven't liked the colors on them for some reason.

I've used both Chatterbaits and Booyah Boogee Baits. I agree that the Chatterbait has poor components, but I couldn't detect any significant difference between the two as far as ability to draw strikes.

aside from a dull hook, the original chatterbait is the best of all. the gambler swim blade is a close second imo.

I haven't had any problems with the hooks all of the ones i bought were sharp except for the flipping chatterbait.

I actually prefer the Gambler over the Rad Lures.  Better hooks.  I am not a fan of the Booyah, they seem to break easily.  It will be interesting to try the Strike King version.

the only thing that i dont like about the gambler is that it has a split ring attaching the blade have u seen any problems because of this

I had several fo the original Chatterbaits and most had cracked hook eyes where they squeezed them shut after installing the blade.  The hookeye would just break in two pieces.  That was enough reason for me to stop using them.  They also have Renosky beuilding them now and I'm not a fan of their production.

I use the Gambler Swim Blade quite a lot and it is a good bait.  Any of the baits with split rings can foul every now and then, but a quick jerk and the bait was running true again for me.

BTW - I do not read much about guys tuning these baits.  You can change the vibration with just a little bend in the blade.
