Carolina Rig/dropshot With A Leader?

Featured Replies

I was watching a video on youtube of Bub Tosh fishing a point with a type of "Carolina Rig" that seemed to more of less just be a dropshot with a leader. I was curious how many others fish this rig vs the normal carolina? It seems like it would be better for me since the lakes I fish the most are extremely weedy. And after just trying it out in my friends pond, I can see that my bait will actually stay up off the bottom

This is the video I'm speaking of.

I wouldn't call it a Carolina rig or a drop shot, but it looks like it works. That weirdo in the background stole the show in the video.

 Definitely. The hookset was the best part of the video in my opinion though!

So I guess not many have ever used this technique? I guess I just gotta give it a go. Every time I've used the conventional Carolina off the points in my favorite lake, I'd pull up 5 pounds of weeds and probably missed bites because of it. So I usually give up and fish a different technique. I guess the only downside is that you'll lose the clacking and clicking noise from the weight and beads, but a rattle might help with that.
