Hey All!!

Im getting the itch to get out and do some fishing. I am not a professional nonetheless do have some experience and love the sport. I have my own equipment, I am a small business owner with a very flexible schedule.

Im 28 and really looking for someone age does not matter to either get out on the water or learn some local areas hotspots to fish from land. All my friends are either too busy, have families or have little to no patience.

If anyone has any advice on where to go from land, I am fine going alone just need some direction.

Thanks in advance!

There's a few good ponds in roccity that iv heard brought up on this site I live 45min west of roc so I stay local but have a dozen spots that are killer so I don't venture out to roc that often other then to go to the mall in greece its got the closest dicks sporting goods for me. If u take the parkway and head west till the end u end up in kuckville where you got lake ontario johnsons creek oak orchard creek and lake alice all 5 -10min from eachother and if u venture another 20min u get glennwood and the alabama swamps every spot is loaded from bass to northern pike and walleye.

Im going to do a little research on the areas you mentioned and possibly scout them out soon!

I see you are in the Medina area, where do you normally fish there?

If your ever in the area message me up.

Sorry if I am being a pain but can you be a little more specific on some spots for the lakes/ creeks that maybe I can start from and work my way around? Or would I easily just find a spot to fish driving out there. I was reading about the alabama swamps, they are open to fishing but for Johnson Creek it seems they have designated spots for public access fishing.

Im def going to be scouting these places out and doings some fishing in the near future.

Hey, I'm from the Rochester Region (Irondequoit). I would first highly recommend you going up to the ponds in Durand Park, they are very basic and soon fish will start bedding and are easily visible from the trails. I have been fishing these ponds for 3-4 years and have pulled out a couple of fish going 5lbs. They also have many large pike and plenty of crappie and bluegill. Irondequoit bay is also a good spot, some access to shore fishing but if you have a boat of any type it would be much better fishing. If you do have a boat that can be easily transported I would also recommend you head East towards Sodus/port bay, two phenomenal bays to fish at.

If you really want to get a quick start to fishing I would also suggest you look into the Rochester Bassmasters club, they do tournaments all around New York, you do not need a boat and cost can be minimal. The things I have learned from these guys in the last two years has been some of the most important information on fishing.

But for first things you should head to the Durand Ponds they offer great access to fishing, and surprisingly good fishing at that.

Any questions just let me know!
