Fluoro Coated Lines

Featured Replies

ok i know many people now use fluorocarbon coated nylon because they think it combines the advantages of fluoro and nylon lines. what i dont understand is since the fluorocarbon is see through in water a fish can still easily see the mono. it may seem smaller but i think these companies are just trying to trick you. anyone have any opinions on this?

Although not as "invisible" as straight fluoro, the coating likely helps in that aspect as well as helping the line sink.

but still they charge nearly if not as much for coated mono as 100% pure professional grade fluorocarbon. they are ripping you off.

Better abrasion resistance than mono, better knot strength and castability than pure fluoro.. The higher price is worth it IMO.

News to me. Co-poly lines are generally much less costly than 100% fluorocarbon lines.

Visibility isn't the only reason for the fluoro coatings. Abrasion resistance is another major factor.

well at bps one pack of p-line fluoro coated mono is 8.99 and stren 100% fluoro is 9.99 so its not really that much more expensive

The Stren fluoro is marked down. Usually it's about $17-20.

Co-poly costs much less than fluoro. It's a great value, IMO.

well its not the regular stren fluoro its the fluorocast, which i heard isn't as good. i guess ill give co-poly lines a try.

yeah, I agree about the abrasion resistance point and the cost. I was looking at Berkley 100% Fluro today. Two-hundred yards, something like $17.99, while 300 yards of Pline Flourclear $10. Two spools @ $5 each or one at $17.99

Come buy the rest of the flouroclear we have up at my work before it's gone! :)

Yo-Zuri hybrid 600 yards $8-$10
