Sharkhide

Featured Replies

Anyone use this product and/or can offer any insight. Also, had you used a cleaner prior to applicaton. Looks good- just hate rubbing somthing on the boat only based off of what MFG states. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Mark

Take a look/search on tinboats.net for this product. Some there have used it and are very happy with the results. Depending on the condition of your hull, you may have ALOT of polishing to do. I did, and still do, before I use the sharkhide on the remainder of the boat. I've only done a small portion of the transom. If you have alot of oxidation, use whatever mechanical means you have for the polishing or your arms will develop like the Karate Kid (wax on/wax off). Applying the sharkide is the easy part, just make sure the hull is well polished first.

gracias.

I asked around about this product and everyone says it does what is stated. I wanted to coat my brand new tin but the smallest amount is a quart for 58.00 plus shipping. seems like a lot for half a boat ( half painted) since it's supposed to last for years.

I see.

I have pretty new tracker 175 and while still in great shape, was wanting to throw some on. I hear good things, but for the price it may or may not be worth it. I also wipe the boat down every time, but still...would like it to look good for years. i will let you know if i pick some up and if it covers what i need it to.

I'm going to start with some good aluminum polish and see how it does. I'm a fanatic about cleaning my boat. maybe if you don't let the metal get bad in the first place sharkhide won't be needed. a lot of tin boats out there and maybe we can get some feedback on what others are using.
