Hey everyone,

I am brand new here and I hope I am posting in the right part of the forum. Other than fishing on occasion when I was younger I've never really fished much. On a whim I bought a pretty nice rod and reel at a yard sale. So a couple buddies and I have gone out a few times fishing with no luck at all. Just wondering if anyone can give me some tips on finally landing a fish.

The park is pretty heavily wooded with trees going up to the shore. We fish off of the shore.

Right now I am using some rubbery bait for kmart with a bobber on the line because the 1st time I went out the hook kept dragging and getting caught on the drift wood around shore and sadly I lost a fair amount of hooks and bait.

What sort of bait should we be using and any type of casting style should we be using?

This may all be long winded so I am sorry but I want to give you guys as much info as possible so you can help.

Hey dealingwithit, welcome! I would also suggest that you take a look at all of the articles that they offer here. I started about a year ago and knew absolutely nothing about fishing. started reading and posting questions. You will get the hang of it real soon.Figure out what kind of fish you will be fishing for and zero in on one of the articles posted here. Good group of people on here and a ton of experience!! I would suggest you keep posting questions until your fingers crampup seriously, don't stop asking questions, its the best way to learn. :rolleyes:
