1St Decent Largemouth Of The Season

Featured Replies

I've been having a little trouble getting on the bass this season, or getting on the fish at all for that matter, but I finally pulled in a largemouth from shore today! Stopped by a local spot where I've had some shore-luck on the way to a family member's house and hooked into this 14" lmb on probably my 5th cast. She took a texas rigged zoom worm pretty close to shore. Not sure if she was spawning or what. She got a little sandy while I was landing her but after her photo session she was released and swam away fine. Nothing huge at all but it felt good to get a decent bass on my line again.

14" but pretty chunky :D

Sorry for the crappy pic quality - it's a screenshot from a video that was recorded by a cellphone

Haha thanks! I know it's a crappy pic but the fish was pretty and it felt great bringing her in!

Nice man, I had a slow start this year too. But once you get a little confidence the fish start eating better for you.

WTG ! The ICE is broken ;)

About time ICU! :P LOL, I bet you I can pm you the location of where that pic was taken. ;) My buddy and I use to fish there a lot. Good size bass in there. Our best day there we had close to a four pound average. In the spring of the year right where you took that picture we use to catch some real hogs right from the bank. We would jump out on those rocks way down to the right and cast out into the middle. Congrats and go catch some more.

You are correct in your assumptions, good sir. lol yeah man this is one of the only local spots where I can pretty much count on a bass at least looking at my lure from the shore. Anywhere else around here from shore I just feel like I'm wasting my time. Got another one there today luckily! Felt so good. I only tried getting out on those rocks once before but now that I know it's a good area to try I'll be there tomorrow for sure :D

Jigs are my go to baits! I love dressing them up with a nice Rage craw too. B) I don't like looking at BIG-O's post anymore, he makes my 4-5lbs bass look like dinks! :D

lol nah you guys are both amazing! You guys both hone in on the best bass available around your local areas. I'm still relatively inexperienced so my go to bait for right now is still a trigged plastic worm. I have to gain confidence in order to really feel like I know what I'm doing with a jig. Plus from shore in the shallows I'm not sure the typical bottom bouncing jig is the best bet. Got some swimjigs ordered though and can't wait to give them a go.
