New 4.0 Software Release For Hds® - 4.0.36.59

Featured Replies

A new version of 4.0 software is now available. This new version includes changes to features and functions that were not performing properly in the previous software version.

Items addressed with this new release:

1) Opened full range scale when using StructureScan™. StructureScan range is no longer tied to the fishing mode selected.

2) Fixed the ability to scroll a Weather Watchbox when using SIRIUS® Weather.

3) Fixed the SIRIUS Weather Alarm causing the HDS to re-boot.

4) Fixed a problem with tides and currents being off by one hour.

5) This new version allows for the update of early production, v2.1 or older, HDS-5x fishfinders.

Does it help the issue with the US2 Sonar?

I have an issue with inaccurate depth readings. If I am in super shallow water it will tell me I am in deeper than I know I am. For example if I am in 1.5 ft it will read 4-6ft. I know I'm that shallow because my two depth units in the back, a lowrance flasher and another HDS7, both reading 1.2-1.5 (slight difference in mounting location for the two different transducers). It did not do that until I changed software.

What fishing mode do you have the unit in? For very shallow or weedy conditions, make sure it is in shallow water.

I'm not sure that's the issue. I will try it, but I have the shoot through hull unit on the exact same settings and have zero issues with it. I generally check that one to see what my actual depth is. I'm just tired of asking my coangler what our depth is when I have a really nice set up for my electronics. Lowrance everything by the way.

Todd, does this update apply to all HDS units, or only the 5x units?

Keep in mind that the US2 ducer is not a Lowrance branded ducer. I have observed many instances while working field support where the US2 performance was subpar when compared to running a Lowrance transducer. I always recommend running a Lowrance ducer on MinnKota trolling motors.

Just FYI, newer MotorGuide Tour and Wireless trolling motors do run internal Lowrance ducers.

Oh I agree. When I finally can get a fortrexx it won't have the us2 on it. I won't run motorguide because I am way too hard on TMs to have a metal shaft that's not under lifetime warranty. Had one once that I destroyed in one day. Could I be more careful around timber? Yes of course, but I get in the moment and am all over the place. Not to mention I like being able to cut through grass easily. There's no weedless wedge for MG.
